V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has once again demonstrated its operational strength by achieving a major milestone in bulk cargo handling. The port successfully executed the swift discharge of a large coal consignment, reinforcing its reputation as a highly efficient bulk cargo hub on India’s east coast.

Impressive Coal Discharge Performance

The bulk carrier MV SEA JUNO discharged a total of 72,205 tonnes of coal at North Cargo Berth–2 and the 7th Berth in an exceptional time of 58 hours and 55 minutes, including berth shifting operations. This remarkable turnaround time highlights the port’s capability to handle high-volume cargo within tight operational schedules.

Meticulous Planning and Seamless Execution

The operation was carried out through detailed planning and efficient cargo evacuation using harbour mobile cranes. Seamless coordination among terminal operators, pilots, marine staff, stevedores, and logistics partners played a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted operations. Despite the complexity of managing large coal volumes and berth shifting, the entire process was completed smoothly and without any disruption.
