T-Fiber serves as role model for other States: Union Minister Scindia at India Mobile Congress

At the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 in New Delhi, Telangana’s ambitious T-Fiber project earned national recognition as a transformative model for rural broadband connectivity. Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia lauded the State’s innovative approach, calling T-Fiber a role model for other States to emulate. He commended Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu for his leadership in demonstrating how digital infrastructure can drive inclusive growth across rural India.

T-Fiber: Bridging the Digital Divide

The Telangana Fiber Grid (T-Fiber) aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity to every household, institution, and enterprise in the State. Pilot programmes rolled out in select rural areas have already shown remarkable success, transforming villages into digitally empowered communities. These pilot villages were recognised nationally for their achievements in digital inclusion, setting new benchmarks for other States.

Union Minister Scindia highlighted how last-mile fibre connectivity has revolutionised access to essential services such as e-governance, education, healthcare, and digital entrepreneurship in rural Telangana. He encouraged Telangana to collaborate with the Centre to replicate the T-Fiber model in other States and to establish additional pilot villages across the country.

Strengthening BharatNet and Cybersecurity

During the IT Ministers’ round table conference, chaired by Mr. Scindia and co-chaired by Union Minister of State for Communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Telangana reaffirmed its commitment to partner with the Central Government. Minister D. Sridhar Babu assured full cooperation in accelerating BharatNet implementation, resolving right of way (RoW) challenges, and strengthening cybersecurity frameworks to protect both national and State digital assets.

Digital Equity for Inclusive Growth

Digital equity is the foundation of inclusive growth. Telangana is committed to bridging the rural–urban divide and building a resilient digital infrastructure for the future,” said Mr. Sridhar Babu. Accompanied by T-Fiber Managing Director Venu Prasad Panneeru, the Minister presented data-driven outcomes from the State’s pilot projects, highlighting measurable social and economic benefits.

Aligning with Digital India Vision

Telangana’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network exemplifies effective digital governance, aligning seamlessly with Digital India and BharatNet Phase III objectives. The State showcased how its model empowers citizens through improved access to public services and digital opportunities, reinforcing India’s vision of a connected and inclusive digital ecosystem.

IMC 2025: India’s Premier Digital Forum

The India Mobile Congress 2025, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, served as the country’s leading platform for telecom and digital innovation, bringing together policymakers, industry experts, and global leaders. Telangana’s T-Fiber initiative stood out as a shining example of how strategic collaboration and technology-driven planning can turn the vision of “Digital India for All” into a ground reality.
