Trump finally explains ‘evacuate Tehran’ post; multiple explosions heard in Iran capital amid Israel tensions

In a dramatic escalation of already heightened Middle East tensions, former U.S. President Donald Trump's alarming post on Truth Social, which read “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran,” triggered widespread panic on Monday as multiple explosions were reported across Iran’s capital. The post, which coincided with a barrage of Israeli strikes and Iranian missile retaliation, raised serious concerns among civilians and global observers.
Local media in Tehran confirmed that a series of explosions had rocked the city, with videos surfacing online showing an Israeli strike hitting a state-run television station during a live broadcast, forcing the on-air reporter to flee. The strikes, reportedly in retaliation for recent Iranian missile launches, have so far claimed at least eight lives.
Trump’s post, although interpreted by many as a direct warning, was later clarified by a White House official who stated that it was not meant to be taken literally. Instead, it was intended to underscore the urgency for Iran to re-engage diplomatically amid its escalating conflict with Israel. Trump further emphasized his stance on nuclear disarmament, stating, “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” and criticized Tehran’s refusal to sign the deal he had previously proposed.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli military had issued its own evacuation warning targeting central Tehran home to government facilities including the country’s state TV and police headquarters affecting nearly 330,000 people. The urgency of the situation was underlined by Israeli military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, who claimed, “We have achieved full aerial superiority over Tehran’s skies.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu added further weight to the moment, claiming the strikes had “set Iran’s nuclear program back a very, very long time.” He accused Iran of continuing to build both nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, branding the regime “very weak” and asserting that Israel had given Iran “a chance for 60 days” to choose peace.
As the world watches with bated breath, President Trump has adjusted his schedule, departing early from the G7 summit due to the rapidly unfolding crisis. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the move, noting that while Trump had a productive day including the signing of a major trade deal with the UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer the urgency of the Middle East crisis could not be ignored.
