Sedentary lifestyle cause of heart diseases among youth: SP Damodar

On the occasion of World Heart Day, a rally was organised by Tirumala-Medicover Hospitals in Vizianagaram on Monday, highlighting the urgent need to address rising cardiovascular issues among the youth. The event witnessed the participation of healthcare professionals, officials, and students, all coming together to spread awareness about heart health.

Sedentary Lifestyle – A Growing Concern

Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar, while flagging off the rally, emphasized that a sedentary lifestyle is the leading cause of heart diseases among young people, as confirmed by various medical surveys and expert reports. He noted that lack of physical activity, excessive screen time, and unhealthy habits are silently contributing to serious heart ailments at an early age.

Prevention Through Healthy Living

In his address, Mr. Damodar urged the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle, stating that a proper diet, regular physical exercise, adequate rest, and quality sleep are the best ways to prevent cardiovascular diseases. He stressed that prevention is more effective than cure and that youth should consciously work towards an active routine.

Alarming Rise in Heart Diseases

Tirumala Medicover Hospital Managing Director K. Tirumala Prasad and senior cardiologist Sarat Kumar Patra also shared their concerns during the event. They pointed out that the number of cardiovascular disease cases has increased significantly in semi-urban and rural areas. Changing dietary habits, reduced physical activity, and other lifestyle shifts are major factors contributing to this rise.

Rally for Awareness

The rally, aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of heart health, saw enthusiastic participation from several dignitaries including Tirumala Medicover Hospitals Center Head N. Mallikarjuna Reddy and MANSAS Correspondent K.V.L Raju, among others. Participants carried placards and raised slogans to encourage people to prioritize their health.

Key Takeaway

World Heart Day serves as a reminder that heart health is in our hands. The rally in Vizianagaram sent a strong message that active living, balanced diets, and proper rest are essential to curb the growing threat of heart disease among the youth. As highlighted by SP Damodar and medical experts, embracing healthier lifestyles today will pave the way for a healthier future generation.
