Internet ban lifted in Murshidabad

Internet ban lifted in Murshidabad

After days of unrest and disconnection, normalcy is gradually returning to parts of West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. Internet services were officially restored on Friday in the strife-hit areas of Samsherganj and Suti, signaling a positive shift in the ground situation.

Authorities had earlier imposed the internet shutdown to curb the spread of misinformation and maintain law and order in the wake of violent clashes. However, after a thorough assessment by the local police, it was concluded that the situation had improved sufficiently, allowing the government to lift the digital restrictions.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Bengal Police, which is probing last week’s violence, has intensified its efforts to bring justice and peace back to the region. As per Dwaipayan Ghosh’s report, the SIT has filed over 30 fresh FIRs after gathering testimonies from local residents in the worst-affected areas, including Saju More, Bedbona, and Dak Bungalow More.

The restoration of internet services comes as a relief to the people and businesses that had been severely impacted by the communication blackout. With police presence still strong in the region and investigations ongoing, authorities hope to prevent any further escalation and ensure that peace prevails.

This development marks a crucial step toward rebuilding trust and harmony in Murshidabad, as both residents and officials work hand-in-hand to heal from the recent unrest.
