India now exports trains to the world: PM Modi in Dahod

India’s railway sector is on the fast track to transformation, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proudly showcased this evolution at a recent public event in Dahod, Gujarat. Marking a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards self reliance and global leadership in rail infrastructure, PM Modi emphasized how India has not only modernized its railway network but has also emerged as a global exporter of train coaches and components.

The Rise of Modern Railways in India

Over the past decade, India’s railway system has undergone a revolutionary transformation. From metro expansions in urban cities to the successful deployment of semi high speed trains like the Vande Bharat Express, the nation’s railways are now symbols of speed, efficiency, and innovation. PM Modi announced the launch of a new Vande Bharat Express that will connect Ahmedabad to Veraval, further enhancing intra state connectivity in Gujarat.

With nearly 70 Vande Bharat routes now operational across the country, India is setting new benchmarks in transportation infrastructure, empowering citizens with faster, safer, and more comfortable travel options.

Make in India Goes Global

One of the standout messages from PM Modi’s address was India’s growing prowess as a railway manufacturing powerhouse. Today, India exports metro coaches to Australia and passenger train coaches to England, Saudi Arabia, and France. Countries like Mexico, Spain, Germany, and Italy are also sourcing railway components from India, a clear endorsement of Indian engineering and manufacturing standards.

“Passenger coaches made in India are being used in Mozambique and Sri Lanka, and our locomotives are now reaching multiple countries,” said PM Modi. This export success is a proud testament to the strength of the Make in India initiative.

Dahod: A New Industrial Powerhouse

Bringing development closer to the people, PM Modi spotlighted Dahod as the latest manufacturing hub in India’s industrial map. The newly established locomotive factory in Dahod will manufacture 9,000 horsepower engines, among the most powerful locomotives produced domestically. Each locomotive will bear the name 'Dahod', symbolizing the city’s contribution to India’s industrial journey.

The factory is expected to build hundreds of locomotives in the coming years, generating massive employment opportunities for the local youth and strengthening the area’s economy. Small scale industries and MSMEs in the region will also benefit by becoming part of the supply chain for railway components.

Driving Inclusive Growth

The Prime Minister underlined that a robust railway network contributes significantly to industrial, agricultural, and regional development. With new routes like the Dahod Valsad Express, tribal regions in Gujarat are gaining much needed connectivity, thereby bridging the rural urban divide.

“This transformation will benefit not just factory workers but also farmers, livestock owners, shopkeepers, and laborers, ensuring inclusive economic progress,” PM Modi remarked.

Conclusion

From being an importer of rail technology to now exporting trains and components globally, India’s railway journey is nothing short of inspiring. With visionary leadership and strategic investments, the country is on track to becoming a global rail manufacturing hub    ushering in growth, connectivity, and pride for every Indian.
