The event took place on 30 October 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre during India Maritime Week, in the presence of distinguished policymakers, industry leaders, and maritime stakeholders.

A Symbol of Collaboration and Maritime Excellence
The newly launched IMC logo represents the collaborative, innovative, and united spirit of India’s entire maritime community. Designed as a symbol of the nation’s journey into a future shaped by maritime excellence, sustainability, and international cooperation, the logo embodies India’s strategic commitment to strengthening its maritime ecosystem on the global stage.

The ceremony was graced by Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, who formally unveiled the IMC logo. He was joined by Minister of State Shantanu Thakur, Secretary (MOPSW) Vijay Kumar, Special Secretary Rajesh Sinha, IPA Chairman Sunil Paliwal, and Joint Secretary (Ports) R Lakshmanan, among other dignitaries. He emphasized that the logo’s release by the Minister sends a strong and inspiring message throughout the maritime community and beyond.

Journey and Purpose of the Indian Maritime Centre
The Indian Maritime Centre (IMC) was established on 27 September 2024 under the patronage of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Its mandate aligns with key national blue-economy roadmaps Maritime India Vision 2030 (MIV 2030) and Maritime Amrit Kal Vision 2047 (MAKV 2047). These long-term visions aim to transform India into a powerful global maritime leader by enhancing port efficiency, promoting maritime technology, strengthening logistics, and elevating seafarer development.

Growing Representation Across the Maritime Sector
What began with just seven members in 2024 has now evolved into a strong consortium of 40 members. IMC brings together a diverse and influential group of stakeholders including government bodies, major and non-major ports, shipyards, shipping lines, freight forwarders, coastal shipping operators, ship management companies, logistics service providers, seafarer associations, and maritime academies. This broad representation ensures that every segment of the maritime value chain has a unified voice.

Conclusion
The unveiling of the IMC logo marks a defining chapter in India’s maritime growth story. More than a symbol, it represents a shared commitment to progress, innovation, and global partnerships. As IMC continues its mission, it stands ready to steer Maritime India toward unparalleled excellence and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s long-term vision of becoming a global maritime powerhouse.
