IIT Madras-incubated Plenome Technologies raises ₹6.5 crore in seed funding

IIT Madras-incubated startup Plenome Technologies, known for pioneering secure and scalable digital solutions, has raised ₹6.5 crore in seed funding from a distinguished group of Indian and international investors. This funding milestone marks a major step forward for the company’s mission to democratize secure data management across sectors like healthcare, governance, and public services.

Who’s Backing the Vision?

The seed round was led by Ovington Capital Partners, a Luxembourg-based investment firm. They were joined by AADI, a UAE-based specialist in trading and capital equipment distribution, and Manish Gandhi, an angel investor known for his involvement in game-changing startups like ePlane, CynLr, GoStop, LegalKart, and Fermbox.

Meet the Visionaries Behind Plenome

Plenome Technologies was founded by Prof. Prabhu Rajagopal, a celebrated faculty member from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras and a Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awardee. He brings decades of expertise and research excellence to the venture. Joining him are two dynamic co-founders:

  • Vijayaraja Rathinasamy, a MS (Entrepreneurship) student at IIT Madras and an expert in embedded systems,

  • Anirudh Varna, an IIT Madras graduate with deep expertise in blockchain technologies.

The company is a product of Mr. Rajagopal’s Automation and Data Engineering group at the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation, IIT Madras.

Disruptive Products in Action

Plenome has already made waves with several pioneering solutions:

  • BlockTrack ‘OraganEase’: This platform is being trialed to manage sensitive organ donation databases in collaboration with a state-level transplant authority in South India.

  • BlockVote: Their innovative blockchain-based voting solution has successfully been used in IIT Madras student elections and is now being developed as a pay-per-use remote election system for large organizations. This allows secure voting through mobile devices from any location redefining democratic engagement.

  • Ashwin: An AI-powered, voice-enabled data capture and insight generation platform initially targeting the dental healthcare segment. With input support in multiple Indic and foreign languages, Ashwin is being trialed with plans to expand into eyecare, cosmetic, and fertility care.

The Vision Ahead

Commenting on the impact of their work, Prof. Rajagopal said,

“Our work improves access to healthcare in remote locations while enabling interoperability and insight generation based on structured medical records. Our work on remote elections is very exciting, offering the possibility of voting through mobile devices from any location.”

Vijayaraja Rathinasamy emphasized the startup’s inclusive approach:

“At Plenome, we are driven by the conviction that technology should be purposeful and inclusive, reaching those at the margins and delivering outcomes that are tangible, equitable, and sustainable.”

Anirudh Varna added,

“By decentralising critical systems, from healthcare diagnostics to secure voting, we are putting power directly into people’s hands. We are looking forward to scale our Ashwin and BlockVote platforms globally.”

Conclusion

With strong investor backing and cutting-edge innovations in secure data management, Plenome Technologies is poised to become a global leader in the digital transformation space. Their solutions promise to reshape how vital data is managed, accessed, and protected ushering in a future where privacy, security, and inclusivity are no longer trade-offs, but essentials.
