Dredging Corporation of India swings to ₹21.39 crore profit in Q4, eyes global expansion

In a strong turnaround performance, Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) has reported a net profit of ₹21.39 crore for the March 2025 quarter, reversing its loss of ₹25.97 crore during the same period in the previous fiscal year. The dramatic shift into profitability is primarily attributed to a significant increase in income, as revealed in the company’s recent stock exchange filing.
Strong Financial Rebound
DCI’s total income surged to ₹464.38 crore in Q4 FY25, marking a robust 67% increase from ₹278.80 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This impressive growth underlines the company's successful efforts in boosting operational efficiency and capturing larger market opportunities.
Commenting on the financial results, Durgesh Kumar Dubey, Managing Director and CEO of DCI, expressed optimism about sustaining the momentum:
"We have ended the fourth quarter delivering positive financial numbers. We will try to maintain this momentum in the coming quarters," Dubey told PTI.
Ambitious Global Expansion Plans
With its financial footing strengthened, DCI is setting its sights on international markets. The company is actively exploring business opportunities in the Middle East, South East Asia, and South Asian regions. Alongside its overseas ambitions, DCI remains committed to expanding within the domestic market, targeting collaborations with key players such as AMNS India, JSW Group, and Adani Group, all of whom are scaling up port operations.
Sector Outlook and Strategic Positioning
According to Dubey, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), the outlook for the port and dredging sector is highly promising. He emphasized the role of government-led initiatives like the Sagarmala Programme, which is propelling India's maritime infrastructure development and creating more opportunities for dredging services.
India's Premier Dredging Entity
Headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, DCI stands as a premier dredging organization, operating under the administrative control of four major Indian ports:
With strategic port linkages and a renewed focus on profitability and growth, DCI is well-positioned to play a crucial role in India’s maritime ecosystem while extending its footprint to global waters.
