DPA hosts maritime roadshow ahead of India Maritime Week 2025

The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, organized a Maritime Festival-cum-Roadshow in Gandhidham, Gujarat, as a curtain-raiser to the upcoming India Maritime Week 2025. The event, themed “International Cooperation – Smart Ports: Gateways to Prosperity,” celebrated India’s emergence as a global maritime leader and emphasized the importance of technology-driven, sustainable, and collaborative growth in the ports and logistics ecosystem.

India’s Maritime Progress Under Visionary Leadership

The programme opened with a welcome address by Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, DPA, who highlighted India’s remarkable maritime advancements under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. He encouraged active participation in India Maritime Week 2025, noting that the event will play a vital role in fostering partnerships, innovation, and growth across the maritime value chain.

Fostering Innovation and Global Competitiveness

Delivering the keynote address via video conference, Rajkumar Beniwal, IAS, Vice Chairman & CEO, Gujarat Maritime Board, emphasized the need for innovation, efficiency, and close coordination between government and industry. He underscored that such synergy is essential for modernizing Indian ports and boosting the country’s competitiveness in global trade.

Panel Discussion on “Smart Ports: Gateways to Prosperity”

A major highlight of the event was a dynamic panel discussion on the theme “Smart Ports: Gateways to Prosperity,” moderated by Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, Deputy Chairman, DPA. The session brought together leading industry figures, technologists, and maritime experts who explored the transformative potential of digitalization, automation, and sustainability in shaping the future of Indian ports.

Panelists emphasized the importance of technology integration, public–private partnerships, and international collaboration as key drivers propelling India toward maritime modernization and global leadership. The discussion concluded with closing remarks by Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by V. Raveendra Reddy, Chief Engineer, DPA.

Strengthening India’s Maritime Future

The roadshow served as a vibrant platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and partnership building, reaffirming DPA’s commitment to advancing India’s maritime aspirations. The event aligns closely with the Maritime India Vision 2030 and the Maritime Amritkaal Vision 2047, both of which aim to position India as a global maritime hub through innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation.

Through this initiative, DPA continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s maritime growth story and strengthening its position as a key player in global trade and logistics.
