Congress launches campaign urging people to register against 'vote chori'

The Congress party has intensified its political offensive over Rahul Gandhi’s poll rigging allegations by launching a dedicated online campaign portal urging citizens to register their support against what it calls “vote chori” (vote theft).

Campaign Portal for Public Participation
The newly launched web page allows citizens to demand accountability from the Election Commission (EC) and back Rahul Gandhi’s demand for digital voter rolls. Through the portal, anyone can:

  • Download what the party claims is “vote chori proof”

  • Demand EC accountability

  • Report instances of alleged vote theft

The portal also features a video of Rahul Gandhi reiterating his explosive allegations of a “huge criminal fraud” in the polls, allegedly enabled by collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission.

Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations and Case Study
Citing an analysis from a Karnataka constituency, Gandhi claimed over 1 lakh fake voters were detected in just one assembly segment of Bangalore Central allegedly influencing the BJP’s victory in that Lok Sabha seat. “Imagine this happening in 70–100 seats it would destroy free elections,” the message warns.

The Congress asserts that this is not an isolated incident, recalling similar concerns raised in Maharashtra. “Now we have proof. We will fight this vote chori with all our strength. Join us to defend our democracy,” the party states on the portal.

Symbolic Pledge Against Vote Theft
Upon registering, participants receive a personalised certificate declaring their stance against “vote chori” and endorsing Rahul Gandhi’s demand for digital voter rolls. The certificate carries the signatures of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary K C Venugopal, and treasurer Ajay Maken. Supporters can also register via phone by calling a dedicated number and completing the process through a link sent via SMS.

Social Media Push and Political Reactions
Several Congress leaders and supporters have already registered and shared their certificates on social media to amplify the campaign. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has pushed back strongly urging Rahul Gandhi to either sign a formal declaration substantiating his claims or issue a public apology for what they term “fake” allegations.

The exchange between Gandhi and the EC marks yet another flashpoint in the ongoing political battle, with both sides holding firm on their positions. As the campaign gathers momentum, it is set to keep the debate on electoral transparency and accountability in the national spotlight.
