In April 2024, a significant meeting took place in Minsk between Vladimir Morozov, Head of Belarusian Railways, and Ju Guojiang, President of China Railway International. The discussions focused on organizing container train transportation along the China-Western Europe-China routes, transiting through Belarus. Both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing railway infrastructure to facilitate the movement of Belarusian goods to China and vice versa. ​

Additionally, Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan have observed a substantial increase in applications from shippers aiming to transport goods to China via Kazakhstan. To accommodate this surge, plans are underway to introduce longer trains and improve border-crossing technologies in collaboration with Chinese Railways. ​

Modern Logistics Hubs and Technological Advancements

Belarus is investing in modern logistics centers to support the growing rail freight traffic. For instance, the Koryazhma station has become a key node, featuring container storage facilities and warehouses capable of handling significant cargo volumes. The station is equipped with refrigerated sections and charging points to maintain cold chain integrity, essential for transporting perishable goods like frozen beef. ​

State logistics company Beltamozhservice plays a crucial role in this ecosystem, offering services such as customs clearance, transportation, and warehousing. With six warehouses across the country and a high rate of paperless operations, the company ensures efficient handling of freight.​

The collaboration between Belarus and China in rail freight transport is poised to enhance trade efficiency and economic growth for both nations.
