Realme launches Neo 8 with big battery and flagship Qualcomm chip ahead of P4 Power India debut

Introduction
Realme has officially launched the Realme Neo 8 in China, expanding its premium smartphone lineup with a strong focus on performance, battery life, and gaming-centric design. The new Neo 8 arrives with a massive 8,000mAh battery and is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Interestingly, this launch comes just days ahead of the expected debut of the Realme P4 Power in India, though the company has not yet confirmed the Neo 8’s India availability.

Launch context and positioning
The Realme Neo 8 is positioned as a high-performance smartphone that delivers flagship-level hardware at a competitive price point. Despite its premium internals, Realme has priced the device aggressively in the Chinese market. While Indian consumers are gearing up for the Realme P4 Power launch, the Neo 8’s arrival in China signals Realme’s continued focus on power users and gamers.

Design and durability
From its design language to the hardware inside, the Realme Neo 8 clearly targets gamers and performance enthusiasts. The phone features a transparent design with a glass and metal body, giving it a futuristic and premium look. On the front, Realme uses Crystal Armour Glass, which improves resistance against drops and scratches.
The device also stands out in durability, with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. The IP69 rating, in particular, ensures protection against high-pressure hot water jets and steam, which is rare in smartphones.

Display and visual experience
The Realme Neo 8 sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 165Hz refresh rate. The panel is sourced from Samsung and is branded as the M14 display. One of its biggest highlights is brightness, reaching up to an impressive 6,500 nits, making it suitable for outdoor use and intense gaming sessions.

Performance and software
At the core of the Realme Neo 8 is the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. This flagship chipset is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, ensuring fast performance and ample space for games, apps, and media.
The dual-SIM smartphone runs on Android 16-based Realme UI 7.0. Realme has also committed to long-term support, promising three years of major Android updates and four years of security updates.

Camera capabilities
In the camera department, the Realme Neo 8 features a triple rear camera setup. It includes a 50-megapixel primary camera with a Sony sensor and optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel 3.5x periscope telephoto lens for detailed zoom shots, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front, the phone houses a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Battery and charging
One of the biggest highlights of the Realme Neo 8 is its massive 8,000mAh battery. The phone supports up to 80W fast charging, ensuring quick top-ups despite the large battery size. It also supports bypass charging, which allows users to power the phone directly from the charger during heavy usage, such as gaming, without overheating the battery.
Remarkably, even with such a large battery and advanced hardware, the Neo 8 maintains a slim profile at just 8.3mm thickness.

Colors and variants
The Realme Neo 8 is available in three color options: Cyber Purple, Origin White, and Mecha Grey, each catering to different style preferences.

Price and availability
In China, the Realme Neo 8 starts at CNY 2,399, which is roughly Rs 33,000 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The top-end model with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at CNY 3,699, approximately Rs 48,000.
As of now, Realme has not confirmed whether the Neo 8 will launch in India. With the Realme P4 Power set to debut soon, it remains to be seen if Indian consumers will also get access to this powerhouse smartphone.
