Qatar Airways names Buyskes as cargo manager for UK and Ireland

Qatar Airways has strengthened its cargo leadership in a key European market by promoting Cayley Buyskes to the position of cargo country manager for the UK and Ireland. The appointment highlights the airline’s continued focus on experienced leadership to support growth and customer engagement in one of its most strategic cargo regions.

Leadership transition within Qatar Airways Cargo
According to details shared on her LinkedIn profile, Cayley Buyskes transitioned into her new role starting in October, during which she managed both her previous and current responsibilities until this month. Her promotion from regional cargo sales manager reflects Qatar Airways’ confidence in her commercial and operational expertise across mature air cargo markets.

Extensive experience across global cargo operations
Before joining Qatar Airways in December 2024, Buyskes spent more than nine years with IAG Cargo. Her most recent position there was product development manager, based in Greater London, where she played a key role in shaping cargo products and solutions.

Earlier in her career with IAG Cargo, Buyskes was based in South Africa, holding various management roles that gave her hands-on exposure to diverse cargo markets and operational environments. This international background is expected to add strong regional insight to her new role overseeing the UK and Ireland.

A career built across leading aviation brands
Buyskes began her aviation journey in 1996 as a call centre reservation agent with Comair. She later gained experience with Lufthansa before joining British Airways. At British Airways, she progressed from customer service supervisor to account manager and then into multiple area commercial manager roles, building a strong foundation in airline commercial operations and customer management.

Senior leadership changes at group level
Alongside Buyskes’ appointment, Qatar Airways Group has also announced a major leadership transition at the executive level. Last month, the group appointed Hamad Ali Al‑Khater as group chief executive, succeeding Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. Al-Khater assumed his new role on 7 December.

Before joining Qatar Airways Group, Al-Khater served as chief operating officer at Hamad International Airport. In that role, he was responsible for airport safety and operational reliability, while also leading strategic direction, infrastructure expansion, operational excellence, and continuous improvements to passenger experience.

Strengthening Qatar Airways’ cargo strategy
The appointment of Cayley Buyskes as cargo country manager for the UK and Ireland, combined with leadership changes at the group level, signals Qatar Airways’ intent to reinforce its cargo network with seasoned professionals. With her deep industry experience and strong understanding of European and global cargo markets, Buyskes is well positioned to support Qatar Airways Cargo’s growth, service quality, and long-term strategy in the region.
