PM Modi Leads International Yoga Day, Calls it ‘Humanity’s Pause Button’

A Unifying Force for Global Health and Harmony
On the vibrant shores of Visakhapatnam, a historic event unfolded as Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations. With the morning sun casting its golden hue over Ramakrishna Beach, Modi called yoga “the pause button that humanity needs to breathe, balance, and become whole again.” His words echoed deeply, highlighting yoga’s profound role in today’s fast-paced world.
Yoga for One Earth, One Health
The celebration, held under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” brought together an estimated five lakh participants who joined the mass yoga session across a 26-kilometre stretch from Ramakrishna Beach to Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. From dignitaries to common citizens, the beach was transformed into a vast canvas of unity and wellness.
Prime Minister Modi was joined by Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and IT Minister Nara Lokesh all of whom participated actively in the yoga session, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and community.
A Global Movement Rooted in India
In his address, PM Modi emphasized that yoga has transcended borders, becoming a universal language of peace, health, and self-awareness. He reminded the world of India’s proposal to the United Nations in 2014 to mark June 21 as International Yoga Day a move that gained swift support from 175 countries, proving yoga’s timeless and borderless appeal.
Yoga Meets Technology and Inclusivity
CM Naidu, expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, noted the technological advancements that are making yoga more accessible. He praised the influence of artificial intelligence in spreading awareness and expanding yoga’s reach to even remote corners.
Highlighting a recent accomplishment, he said, “Yesterday, 22,000 tribal students set a Guinness World Record through Surya Namaskar. With Modi at the helm, any record is possible.”
Yoga Andhra: A Grassroots Revolution
The celebration was not just symbolic. It is part of a larger movement known as Yoga Andhra, where 1.44 lakh yoga instructors have already registered and become actively engaged over the past month. This campaign goes beyond physical activity it's an initiation, a mission, and a demonstration of inner strength and discipline.
Conclusion: A Timeless Practice for Modern Challenges
As the waves of the Bay of Bengal mirrored the flowing movements of the yogis, the International Yoga Day in Visakhapatnam stood as a testament to India’s enduring cultural wisdom and the global embrace of holistic living. Yoga, as PM Modi rightly stated, is not just about exercise it’s a pause button, a moment of reset that the world desperately needs.
