Neeraj Chopra Beats Julian Weber with 88.16m Throw, Wins Paris Diamond League – Watch

Neeraj Chopra delivered a stellar performance in Paris, clinching his first major title of 2025 at the prestigious Diamond League.

Indian javelin ace Neeraj Chopra set the stage on fire on Friday as he claimed the Paris Diamond League title, marking a triumphant return to form with his first Diamond League victory in two years. The Olympic gold medallist showcased his prowess right from the beginning, unleashing a massive 88.16m throw in his very first attempt enough to secure the top spot.

Despite a mixed series that included throws of 85.10m on his second attempt and 82.89m in his final one alongside three fouls Chopra’s opening effort proved untouchable. This commanding start was more than enough to edge out Germany’s Julian Weber, who opened with an impressive 87.88m, ultimately settling for second place.

Brazil’s Luiz Mauricio Da Silva completed the podium with a solid 86.62m throw on his second attempt, claiming third in a fiercely contested competition.

This win marks an important milestone for Chopra as he heads into a crucial season, building momentum for upcoming global championships. His performance not only reaffirms his status as one of the world's top javelin throwers but also sends a strong message to his rivals: the Olympic champion is far from done.
