Mark Zuckerberg shows off Spotify feature on Meta AI glasses

A Glimpse into the Future of Smart Wearables
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently grabbed attention by sharing a short but exciting video on Instagram, demonstrating how Meta AI glasses now work seamlessly with Spotify. The demo highlights new features rolling out to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses, showing how AI-powered wearables are becoming practical companions for everyday life, especially during fitness activities.

Zuckerberg’s Instagram Demo in Action
In the video shared by Mark Zuckerberg, he is seen in the middle of an intense boxing workout. Focused and energetic, he casually says, “Hey Meta, play the song that matches the vibe.” Instantly, the AI responds with “Playing knockout song,” and a high-energy track begins playing, perfectly syncing with his punches. The moment clearly shows how hands-free, context-aware music can elevate workout experiences.

Spotify Meets Meta AI
The highlight of the update is Meta’s new partnership with Spotify, bringing the first multimodal AI music experience to smart glasses. By simply looking at a scene, such as a gym setup, an album cover, or even a scenic holiday view, users can say, “Hey Meta, play a song to match this view.”
Meta AI uses its computer vision to understand what the wearer is seeing and then combines it with Spotify’s powerful personalization tools to generate a playlist that fits the moment.

Clearer Conversations in Noisy Environments
Another major addition is Conversation Focus, a feature first teased at Meta Connect earlier this year. Now available to early users in the US and Canada on Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN models, this feature is designed for noisy environments.
Whether you are at a crowded gym, a busy café, or on a noisy train, the open-ear speakers amplify the voice of the person you are speaking with, reducing background distractions. Users can easily adjust the level by swiping the right temple of the glasses or through phone settings to match their surroundings.

Software Update and Availability
These new features are part of Meta’s v21 software release, which is being rolled out gradually. The update begins with users in the Early Access Program, and interested users can join the waitlist to experience the features ahead of a wider launch.
The Spotify-powered experience currently works in English across several countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, and the US.

Why This Update Matters
With these updates, Meta AI glasses move beyond being stylish accessories. They become intelligent companions that understand your environment and respond in real time. For gym-goers, runners, and boxers, the Spotify integration adds instant motivation through perfectly matched music. At the same time, Conversation Focus ensures clear communication even in noisy settings.
Mark Zuckerberg’s demo makes one thing clear: smart glasses are no longer just futuristic gadgets, they are quickly becoming everyday tools that blend AI, entertainment, and real-world interaction effortlessly.
