Kangana Ranaut Embraces Ageing & Flaunts Grey Hair, Says 'Politics Is Kinder To Older Women Than Film Industry'

In a world where youth often equates to beauty and relevance especially for women in the entertainment industry Kangana Ranaut is unapologetically changing the narrative. The 39-year-old actress-turned-politician recently opened up about her views on ageing, self-acceptance, and how different professional spaces treat women as they grow older.
Posting a close-up selfie on her Instagram story on May 31, Kangana proudly showcased her grey strands, making a strong statement about embracing the natural ageing process. She wrote, "My pilgrim soul never feared aging but when my film crew saw grey hair they panicked, used mascaras/color sprays." Her candid revelation sheds light on the deep-rooted ageism within the film industry, where women are often pressured to maintain a youthful appearance at all costs.
Despite her fame and influence, Kangana admitted that the film crew’s anxious reaction to her grey hair spoke volumes about how the entertainment world views ageing especially when it comes to women. It's a reminder of how the industry still struggles to portray mature women as anything other than side characters or relics of a glamorous past.
However, Kangana’s foray into politics seems to have offered her a more accepting and peaceful space. Now serving as the BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, she reflected on how this new chapter in her life has given her emotional and professional freedom. “Happy to be in a place where my aging face or body doesn't take anything away from me. Aging is such a joy. Do you guys think politics is kinder to older women than movies? I definitely think so,” she shared.
The actress regularly attends parliamentary sessions and actively participates in social work, adding depth to her role beyond the spotlight. Politics, it seems, has allowed Kangana to grow not just as a leader but also as a woman comfortable in her own evolving skin.
On the cinematic front, Kangana was last seen in Emergency, a project close to her heart that also marked her directorial debut. In the film, she portrayed the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, sharing screen space with notable actors like Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Mahima Chaudhry, Shreyas Talpade, and Milind Soman.
And there’s more ahead for her fans. Kangana is set to make her Hollywood debut with the horror drama Blessed Be The Evil, co-starring Teen Wolf’s Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone. The film, backed by Lions Movies, is expected to go into production this summer in New York. She also has an upcoming psychological thriller with R Madhavan and a film titled Bharat Bhagya Vidhata in the pipeline. Though rumors continue to swirl around Queen 2 and Tanu Weds Manu 3, official announcements are still awaited.
Kangana’s latest reflections serve as an empowering message to women everywhere that ageing is not a flaw but a beautiful chapter of life. Whether on the silver screen or in Parliament, she continues to challenge norms, redefine beauty, and inspire countless others to embrace themselves as they are.
