Kamarajar Port Launches PPP Roadshow for General Cargo Berth–1

Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) has taken a major step toward strengthening its port infrastructure by officially launching the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) journey for General Cargo Berth–1 (GCB-1). The initiative was formally kicked off with a dedicated roadshow held on December 17, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the port’s expansion and modernization plans.

Strong Industry Participation and Engagement

The roadshow witnessed enthusiastic participation from leading companies across India, highlighting strong industry confidence and interest in the GCB-1 project. Senior officials from KPL engaged in detailed and interactive discussions with potential bidders, offering insights into the project’s scope, development roadmap, and long-term investment potential. These interactions played a crucial role in addressing queries and aligning industry expectations with the port’s strategic vision.

Clarity on Project Scope and Development Plans

During the event, KPL officials outlined how the development of General Cargo Berth–1 under the PPP model is expected to significantly enhance cargo handling capacity and improve operational efficiency at Kamarajar Port. The project is designed to cater to growing cargo demand while ensuring modern, efficient, and sustainable port operations.

Site Visit Boosts Investor Confidence

A site visit was organized as part of the roadshow, allowing prospective bidders to gain first-hand understanding of the project location and existing infrastructure. This practical exposure further strengthened investor confidence and demonstrated KPL’s readiness to facilitate a transparent and competitive bidding environment.

Towards Competitive Tendering and Long-Term Growth

The successful roadshow signals the beginning of an active and competitive tendering process for GCB-1. By encouraging robust public–private collaboration, KPL aims to attract capable partners who can contribute expertise, investment, and innovation. The initiative is expected to support Kamarajar Port’s long-term growth, enhance its competitiveness, and reinforce its position as a key player in India’s maritime and logistics ecosystem.

Through this PPP initiative, Kamarajar Port Limited continues to align itself with India’s broader vision of port-led development, efficient logistics, and sustainable infrastructure growth.
