Gaza peace plan: PM Modi welcomes President Trump’s leadership amid ‘decisive’ progress in Gaza

In a major diplomatic development, India has expressed strong support for the latest peace efforts in Gaza, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcoming U.S. President Donald Trump’s leadership amid what he called “decisive progress” in the region. The remarks came as signs emerged of a possible breakthrough   the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas   marking a crucial step toward ending the long-standing conflict.

President Trump has reportedly ordered Israel to halt airstrikes on the Gaza Strip after Hamas indicated it had accepted certain elements of his peace plan. The proposed deal aims to end the nearly two-year war and secure the return of all remaining hostages taken during the October 7, 2023, attacks.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi said, “India welcomes the decisive progress in Gaza and President Trump’s leadership. The indications of the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas mark a significant step forward in efforts to restore peace in the region. India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace.”

According to reports, Hamas has shown willingness to release hostages and transfer administrative control to other Palestinian factions. However, it emphasized that further consultations are needed among Palestinian groups before finalizing the broader terms of the agreement.

The latest developments have sparked cautious optimism across the global community, as the world watches whether the Trump-led initiative can achieve a lasting truce in one of the most volatile regions on Earth.
