Fraport cargo rises 3.7% in July, boosting India–Europe trade links

Steady Growth in Cargo Volumes
Fraport AG has reported a 3.7% increase in cargo volumes for July 2025, handling an impressive 179,055 metric tonnes across its global network. This surge reflects not only stronger demand in key sectors but also a significant boost for trade flows between India and Europe, thanks to the group’s well-connected intercontinental hubs.

Frankfurt Airport Leading the Way
Frankfurt Airport, Fraport’s primary hub, played a central role in this growth. With 42,657 take-offs and landings in July up 5.3% from the previous year the airport ensured efficient movement of both passengers and goods. The total maximum take-off weight reached around 2.6 million metric tonnes, marking a 2.3% rise.

Cargo as a Core Trade Enabler
While passenger traffic at Frankfurt soared to 6.1 million in July, cargo handling remained a crucial pillar of operations. The ability to maintain consistent freight movement across European and global routes ensures uninterrupted supply chains. For India, this means faster and more reliable access to European markets, supporting both exports and imports.

Expanding Global Connectivity
Fraport’s network spanning destinations in Greece, Italy, Spain, Thailand, and East Africa serves as a strategic bridge for Indian trade. The integrated cargo and passenger operations enhance connectivity, giving Indian exporters direct access to high-demand markets while facilitating the import of vital goods.

Overall Performance and Outlook
Across all actively managed airports, Fraport served approximately 22.9 million passengers in July 2025, a 4.6% year-on-year increase. With cargo continuing to play a vital role, the group’s strategic positioning strengthens its role as a key facilitator of global trade, particularly along the India–Europe corridor.
