DP World enhances egg export logistics with cold chain corridor
Introduction
DP World has strengthened global perishable trade by launching a dedicated cold chain corridor that supports the safe and efficient export of eggs from Türkiye to key international markets. This initiative marks a major step in improving cold chain reliability for one of the most delicate agricultural products.
A New Cold Chain Corridor for Turkish Eggs
DP World’s newly launched corridor enables Turkish egg producers to reach consumers across the Middle East and the United States. The service supports the seamless movement of perishable goods from farms in Türkiye to retail networks in Dubai, Kuwait, Bahrain and the US, ensuring quality is maintained throughout the journey.
Initially, the weekly service will transport around 6.7 million eggs per month. As demand grows, the corridor has the potential to scale significantly, with annual capacity reaching up to 450 million eggs once fully matured.
Sea-Based Logistics with Global Reach
All shipments under this corridor are sea-based, moving through DP World’s strategically located ports and transshipment hubs. These movements are managed by expert operational teams working around the clock, ensuring reliability, schedule integrity and minimal handling risks.
This approach not only enhances efficiency but also supports more sustainable logistics compared to alternative transport modes, aligning with DP World’s long-term environmental objectives.
Advanced Cold Chain Technology and Monitoring
To protect product quality, the corridor uses internationally certified cold storage containers combined with continuous temperature monitoring. These systems ensure eggs maintain optimal freshness from origin to final destination.
Real-time visibility across the supply chain provides both producers and buyers with confidence, transparency and assurance, which is critical for high-volume, sensitive food exports.
Türkiye’s Growing Role in Global Egg Trade
According to World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS) data, Türkiye ranked as the world’s third-largest egg exporter in 2024, following the Netherlands and Poland. The UAE alone accounted for nearly 40 per cent of Turkish egg exports, with DP World already managing approximately 30 per cent of sea shipments in this trade lane.
Kris Adams, Executive Vice President for Eastern Europe at DP World, highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating that eggs are delicate products, but with the right mix of technology, expertise and global infrastructure, they can be transported safely and efficiently across continents. He added that the service opens new opportunities for Türkiye’s agricultural sector and showcases how smart logistics can unlock new frontiers in perishable trade.
Part of a Broader Global Cold Chain Strategy
The egg export corridor is part of DP World’s wider strategy to enhance global cold chain connectivity. By combining its extensive logistics network with advanced cold chain technology, specialised packaging and real-time monitoring, DP World aims to preserve product integrity across diverse perishable supply chains.
Earlier in 2025, DP World introduced its Atlas service connecting Morocco with the UK and northern Europe. This sea-based solution transports up to 150,000 tonnes of fresh produce annually, reducing emissions by up to 70 per cent compared to road transport. Using DP World vessels and 1,250 new 40-foot high-cube refrigerated containers, the service delivers tomatoes, blueberries, peppers and citrus directly to European retail markets.
Expanding Infrastructure and Innovation
DP World continues to invest in logistics infrastructure to support future growth. In December 2025, the company, in partnership with Thames Freeport, began construction of The Hive, a £13 million ($17 million) amenities and innovation hub at the London Gateway Logistics Park. This development reflects DP World’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and value-added logistics solutions.
Conclusion
With the launch of its new cold chain corridor for egg exports, DP World has reinforced its position as a leader in perishable logistics. By enabling scalable, technology-driven and sustainable supply chains, the company is helping agricultural producers access global markets while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
