DBGT Expands Global Reach with Ad Hoc Call of MV CMA CGM Kailas

DBGT Expands Global Reach with Ad Hoc Call of MV CMA CGM Kailas

Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) has taken another major step in strengthening India’s position in global maritime trade by successfully handling an ad hoc call of the container vessel MV CMA CGM Kailas. This development marks a significant milestone in enhancing international connectivity from India’s east coast and reinforces DBGT’s growing role as a strategic transshipment and gateway terminal.

A Landmark Vessel Call at Tuticorin

The vessel MV CMA CGM Kailas called at Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal, located at V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Tuticorin, on 08 January 2026 at 2340 hours. During this call, DBGT efficiently handled around 600 TEUs, demonstrating its operational readiness and capability to manage international container traffic seamlessly. The vessel subsequently sailed on 09 January 2026 at 0515 hours, reflecting quick turnaround and coordinated port operations.

Direct Connectivity to Southeast and East Asia

One of the most significant outcomes of this ad hoc call is the establishment of a direct onward sailing connection from DBGT to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and major ports in China. This new linkage enhances trade routes connecting Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia, offering exporters and importers improved transit options, reduced transit time, and greater reliability.

Port Rotation Strengthening Trade Corridors

The port rotation of MV CMA CGM Kailas highlights DBGT’s integration into an important international shipping network. The rotation includes the Port of Mtwara in Tanzania, Tuticorin (DBGT), Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, followed by Shekou and Da Chan Bay in China. This multi-regional route strengthens trade corridors across continents and positions DBGT as a key node in global supply chains.

Strong Institutional Support and EXIM Growth

With consistent support from the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, DBGT continues to reinforce its role in facilitating EXIM trade and supporting the shipping fraternity. The successful handling of this international service underlines the terminal’s growing importance as a reliable gateway for global commerce.

A Growing Gateway for Global Commerce

The ad hoc call of MV CMA CGM Kailas is more than a single vessel movement; it is a reflection of DBGT’s expanding global reach and operational excellence. As DBGT continues to attract international services and strengthen connectivity with key global markets, it is set to play an even more crucial role in regional economic development and deeper integration with global supply chains.
