A New Milestone in Strengthening Regional Connectivity

On April 24, 2025, Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) marked a significant achievement by welcoming the maiden call of M.V. HE YUAN SHUN 89, operated by M/s X Press Feeders. This historic moment celebrates the commencement of a dedicated Tuticorin-Colombo Shuttle service, further strengthening DBGT’s position as a vital link in the regional and global shipping network.

Enhanced Service Frequency and Slot Availability

The newly launched service promises two sailings per week, boosting the total weekly connectivity to Colombo to six sailings. With this increase, DBGT users will benefit from a 20% rise in weekly slot availability, ensuring greater flexibility, reduced waiting times, and improved planning for cargo movement. This development is expected to significantly support exporters and importers who rely on timely and efficient transshipment services through Colombo.

A Warm Welcome Aboard

In true DBGT tradition, a warm onboard ceremony was organized to commemorate the vessel’s first call. Mr. R Maneksha Fernando, Chief Operating Officer, along with the Team DBGT, led the celebrations that included a cake-cutting event and the presentation of the terminal’s commemorative memento.
